NO, insulation can not be used to insulate the pipe.( UL 1738 code)
If you are in a cold climate area where a greater amount of condensation will be produced,use a Z-Vent condensate drain instead of insulation.

The condensate drains are available in 3 types:Vertical in-line, horizontal or in a Vertical Condensate Tee.
